Anybody read "Happiest Toddler on the Block?"
« on: January 20, 2006, 02:07:28 AM »

I'm having mixed feelings about it.  I don't like the tone at all, and some of the advice I think is a little fishy.  There's some good stuff, I guess, but I expected it to be a lot better with all the positive things I'd heard about it.
Anyone else?

I haven't read it...but reviews I've read of seem to indicate a departure from his suggestions for babies.  (e.g. limited CIO is ok for toddlers).

Oh!  Shocked You're right!  I had only skimmed it and read a few pages when I wrote that last post, I went and looked for sleepy time stuff and found, no, not "limited" CIO.  Full-on, "He may cry for and hour or more."  Boy, I must be loosing my mind if I thought this got good reviews!

I think the Happiest Baby on the Block has excellent reviews, but the Toddler book has had mixed reviews, at best. It's like he says, oh, your kid is a year old now...forget everything else that was said and try the opposite approach. Yuck!
