Ok, i know i ask this question often, but how much is your LO eating now and what's the breakdown between brestmilk/formula and solids?
We are BFing about 7-8 times a day (that includes the 2 bottles he has while i'm at work) and he eats a little cereal and a fruit OR veggie at dinner time... It just doesn't seem like he's eating enough to me (although he's growing- almost triple his birth weight at 7 months)
Just asking, thanks

well we are nursing on demand still some days its 5 times but more often its liek 8 or 9 he loves his bm! we are only doing one solids once a day this month but his dr told me to have him on 3 meals a day and start some meats( which i havent decided if i will or not) by 9 months. for his one solid meal he is getting 2 tbsp of a fruit or a veggie and rice ceral or 2 tbs fruit and 2 tbs veggie mixed. i have made schedules for every meal from now til end of march to make sure i add everything i need to add and get him up to 3 meals a day. if you want to see them just let me know i can post them. at the end of march he will be eating about 20 different fruits and veggies, 3 meals a day, and rice oatmeal and wheat cereals, and each meal will be about 4 tbsp total. hth

Asha has rice cereal for breakfast and dinner still, we'll be introducing other food once i think she's eating enough cereal to be worth preparing real stuff. she eats between 2 and 4 tb.
with milk feeds she varies and i don't count so guessing i'd have to saybetween 5-10 feeds per day including nights.

liz, you always have everything so planned! i don't even think i can think of 20 fruits and veggies to give him! What all are you going to give him? See there are so many fruits and veggies that I would eat that i can't think of giving him- like anything citrus, or flowering veggies like broccoli or cauliflower....so after peaches, apricots, apples and pears on the fruit side and for veggies- potato, green bean, peas, sweet potatoes, carrots....i guess there is zucchini and squash, but i don't have the foggiest clue how to make those for baby...
what do you guys think about pastina? or couscous? DH had that all the time as a baby and my sister keeps telling my to make it using the water from poaching the veggies and feed him that...
today we had apricots, i thought they were too sour for him, so i only gave him a few bites.

this is something i never got, you know how a lot of people on bbc weren't making their own baby food because it wa time consuming, isn't babyfood just steamed veges mashed? thats what i've done for both dd's.
Liz, i wuold love to see your plan.
guys be cautious with stonefruit as some kids can be sensitive to it early on.

Elisabeth eats one or two solid meals daily. I printed up the chart from http://www.wholesomebabyfood.com/extras/CondensedSolids.pdf to use as a guideline. I like that it has a few things on it that jarred feeding moms don't always think of (and I do use pretty much jarred foods right now) The site goes into detail with those and other foods that are not very mainstream.

yeh we used the guids on wholesome baby food as what he can have when as well... our plands are below, however here is the condensed version(by the end of march) because the charts are hard top see on here for some reason:Fruits- bananas, apples, peach, pear, plum, prunes, avocado, kiwi, blueberry, cantaloupe(and in early april will add papaya and mango) veggies- squash, green beans, peas, carrots, zucchini, asparagus, broccoli, sweet potato, maybe white potato. if you need instructions on how to make something www.wholesomababyfood.com has everything

Wow Liz, kudos! You are super duper organized! Debby gets three solid meals a day, usually the first one is rice or oatmeal cereal (although I am going to start super porridge soon), then she gets whatever I feel like giving her for lunch and dinner. She eats avocados, squash, bananas, pears, green beans, carrots, peas (though she hates those), and we have a bunch more stuff that I have made but she hasn't tried yet - kiwi, cantelope, mango, papaya... I think there are more but I can't remember. Oh, and broccoli! So far, she seems to be a veggie girl.

This is roughly our schedule, but I don't do schedules so it's just the way it happened: 5am 7am 9/10am solids 2tbsp oatmeal 2/3 tbsp of fruit 12/1pm 4pm dinnertime & solids 2/3 tbsp rice 2tbsp veggies 8pm usually 1x at night, but lately can be 3x's b/c of the teeth the only fruits we have so far are apples, pears, bananas, peaches, apples w/ cherries (loves it) apples w/ blueberries (loves it) the only veggies she eats are carrots, sweet peas, & sweet potatoes I decided to go with jarred right now as well until I know she won't choke on lumps, she really has an issue with swallowing food that's lumpy even with her 3 silly teeth

Asha has moved on to pumpkin, potato and sweet potato. i love my food processor, no lumps and Asha loves how smooth the food is. we're thinking about doing 3 meals soon, but its only been a month and a half since we started solids, don't know if we're moving too fast.

we got a cheap 5$ one at walmart and it works fine. what comes out of it is a little thicker than a traditional full size processor but it is so handy and convenient- plus, it's great for just one meal at a time- like one apple or something.
