Asha has only had one bf since 7.30 last night. she's all congested so doesn't want to drink because she's only able to breathe through her mouth. she wont take a bottle and isn't too keen on a sippy, any suggestions? i don't want her to get dehydrated.

I am sure you have tried this, but saline (or breat milk) and a nose sucker? A humidifier of bring her in the shower with you.
I hate having a stuffed up baby.

Asha and i always have a shower together now, so i did that earlier but really no improvement. ok, i know you guys always taked about humidifiers ad nose suckers but i really don't have a clue about them, never seen one, i don't even know if we have them here, or maybe this is just an area i am dumb about since i'm new to sick babies.

They are pretty easy to use. Here are some directions http://www.babycenter.com/refcap/482.htmlYou can use breastmilk instead of saline if you want, but saline is easier to get in their nose. I also plug the other nostril when I do it. It can help a lot. I think you should be able to pick one up at a drugstore. Ask the pharmasist maybe. Good luck. |

megs out here we call humidifiers... vaporisers i have one for maddox it is fantastic.
if i wasnt working the next two days id drive up and lend it to you there really is nothing worse than a stuffy nosed bubba.
anyway how about a syringe of water squirted in her mouth every now and then...
also the vaporiers are only about 25 30 dollars at chemists.
hope she is better soon

she's feeding a bit better today,
i tried the sippy cup again yesterday and she took a little. my breasts would have exploded if i didn't express some i swear. funny thing tho, c got to the sippy and drank it all, telling me " Yum, yum, yum, more more." and pointig to my breast.

Megs, that quote from C is SO cute! I don't have any advice for Asha other than what others have already told you. I'm sure she'll pick up drinking more as she gets to feeling better.
