food with names
« on: December 26, 2006, 05:58:01 AM »

Now that ds is old enough to ask for food by name, we're having fun nventing dishes together.

I asked him what he wanted for dinner, and he said, "cars!" so I cut some tofu blocks into car shapes, sloshed some soy sauce and sesame oil on them and put them in the oven.  wen they were brown on top I took them out, "deglazed" the pan with veg broth and mixed up a quick brown gravy.  gravy and tofu went together on teh plate, for "cars stuck in mud" which has been a weekly request ever since.

He askes for Mac and ChReese, which I put some brocolli florets in for teh "trees" part.

Anyone else have fun ideas for quick veggie dishes?

Charlie is mostly on a rice diet at the  moment.  Maybe you should rename Mac and cheese to Mac and trees.
