Oh my gosh, my hair falls out by the handful and while I always thought it was annoying it never worried me until the other day my boss came up behind me and pointed out a bald spot...since then i've been pulling my hair back to cover it up- Yesterday I asked Mohamed's ped about it (he was there for his 6mo appt) and she said it happens most often when the mother doesn't eat properly because of the good stuff she does eat, the baby takes it all away, so it's kind of like starving/malnourishing yourself..she told me i should take an extra prenatal vitamin every day and try to add a few more servings or protein, whole grains and fruits and veggies...today is day one, so we'll try that.... I do have to admit my eating hasn't been great cause i'm back at work, but it makes sense to me since the body's instinct is to feed baby first... HTH, Good luck (If I find any rogaine coupons I'll be sure to photocopy them for you!) ~Mari

Can I send you some of my hair? lol
Actually, right after Jessie was born, I lost TONS of hair. I know right after birth, the hormone changes naturally cause loss of hair. But, I wasn't eating enough/right things and nursing took all the good stuff away from my body. So, I had probably both. However, this late in the game, it's either hormone changes as your body adjusts to a different level of nursing or your not eating right. I second the suggestion for a prenatal vitamin. That will get your hair growing again, lol!

hmm. I have been eating pretty badly lately. And I produced a freakish amount of milk the past week. And this is my first cycle without a I-have-to-call-my-grandmother-because-I-can't-even-dress-myself migrane in a few months. I am being pretty good about my suppliments, though... I also noticed that where I noticed the hair loss is exactly where I rub my head when I'm thinking about something, and I did just finish whipping through a textbook. hmm. (Kody says "Mommy: hmmm" when I'm thinking, I must say it outloud at least as often as I type it, lol) well, it's a mystery. I'm glad to know it's a mommy thing, though.
