The last few days Jocelyn has been an absolute bear to get to sleep for both her naps and at bedtime. We go in her room and do her usual routine and she's fine until after I leave the room. At that point she either spends a lot of time playing and running around her room or like for her nap this afternoon she threw an absolute temper tantrum about 10 minutes after I left the room. I think its just that she is having some sort of cognitive spurt right now and is fighting going to sleep because she's too busy doing other things and doesn't want to stop. She obviously still needs the nap because she'll sleep almost 2 hours once she gets to sleep and she sleeps 10-11 hours at night - about half the time she sleeps through and the other half she wakes in the early morning wanting to come to bed with us - so I don't think its too much sleep. I was just wondering if anyone else is seeing this right now?

mmm hmm. Kody's bedtime has drifted steadily later, now it's 11:30-12:30 before he finally goes down, and then it's my lap in a chair in front of a TV with one breast in his mouth and the other in his hand. Nothing less will do. then he sleeps later in the morning, which sucks, becuase he needs attending in the last few hours of sleep so it's not like I can get up early to work, or he'll get up early and then take a really long nap, which I love. It's unpredictable, and annoying. Hopefully we'll get through it quickly, all of us!

When my DD was nearly two, the only way she would go to sleep for a nap was by nursing and then being worn in the sling. Once she was alseep I could slip her off onto a mat on the floor. It was great for helping me with my fitness LOL At night I nursed her to sleep - and often fell asleep myself in the process. Good luck with this phase.

Glad to heat we're not alone here! Tonight was better - It still took almost 45 minutes for her to fall asleep but there was no tantrum, just playing and her walking out wanting to be retucked a couple of times. At one point I peaked in on her and she was sitting in the corner 'reading' to her stuffed animals - super cute.

AP Mama to 3 Kids

awww...that's super cute, Jessica. We've also been going thru a rough patch of sleep where the kids are go to bed incredibly late, sleep in (even w/ turning on the tv and the lights in the bedroom and me getting up to take a shower, they STILL don't wake up in the mornings) and then don't take a nap until early evening. It's frustrating and I'm worried b/c we're going to Disney in a week and we have to do things on a "normal" schedule b/c there's not much to do for kids their age after 9pm. I've been slowly trying to get them to transition back to a semi-normal schedule (like bed by 11pm instead of 3am!!). It's been rough and I've only got this week to get them "back on track". uggh!
