I am considering doing EC with Juney, but I have some concerns. Mainly, we don't have set daily schedule and are out and about for Ava's activities most of the time. Is it possible to really do EC if we're out from 8-noon or 1pm every day?
I guess my questions are: 1. How do you do EC when you're out of the home (it's COLD here with 2 ft. of snow on the ground so peeing/pooing outdoors is out of the question)
2. Is it possible to do EC when I'm home in the afternoon and evenings and then just let her use a diaper regularly in the mornings when we're gone? Does that go against EC or would it confuse Juney?
I don't know a whole lot about EC at this point so my questions may be really silly or off-base. Any advise would be greatly appreciated

from what i have read doing ec part time is completely acceptable and is not too confusing for baby. i guess they learn the times when they are expected to potty in the toilet, just like how they learn a bedtime routine or something like that. it is all up to you. when i go out i dont bother with it at this point. he wears a diaper antyime we are out of the house or at someone elses house and when i feel like doing it i do it and he never seems to get confused. it just takes him one time to pee in th tub to remember what he is supposed to be doing.i use thr bathtub instead of the toilet because a boy is very hard to aim! i went completely diaper free from day one, except for overnight. i have read that going diaper free or cloth has a much better success rate because they feel when they are wet so it encourages self awareness. to start off with here are some tips: she will pee right after wking up from a nap. she wont pee in her sleep, she will wake up to pee or at the very leaqst "stir" before she pees. i never have a diaper on shane during nap time. after he wakes up from a nap i am GUARANTEED a pee in the appropriate place, i have found this the easiest way to start. he doesnt give good signals, some babies do, some dont. when he os awake he pees about every 20-30 minutes. immediately after waking, and withing 15 minutes of nursing. you can start her off without a diaper and just observe her for a day to see if she gives any sort of cue before she pees. i think you will have an easier time with A girl than i do with my boy, because he pees straight up and aiming is a big issue for us right now / i have also found that shane didnt respond really to the pss sound that everyone says to do. i have a lot better luck just turning the sink or bathtub water on just a trickle, he usually peses rigth away with that noise going. also i am doing the sign for potty now too along with the noise. the first 3 das were stressful for me and i wanted to quit, bu8t we had our first accident free day by day 12 so i couldnt be happier with how its going!! et me know if you have any more questions, i would be glad to help you and io hope it works out for you! one momma on this board has a site that i found very helpful here ya go: http://www.ec-information.com/getting_started.html
