I'm teething again. my wisdom tooth is still coming through, and its starting to really ache. I really don't want to go to the dentist as I'm sure they'll want to pull it even if its not in the way, dentists are so gung ho. but say i do need it pulled, whats the procedure? is there any prob with breastfeeding? any sites on anti wisdom tooth pulling?

If you've just got 1, they'll probably do a local. Locals are generally safe for bfing. I've had to have them...once for a root canal while pg w/ Emily and once for another root canal while bfing Emily. These are safe and won't interfere. However, if you have several, they'll probably give you a general, which in that case may not good be to nurse right after...I'm not sure though.
Either way, I'd definitely recommend going to a dentist...b/c sometimes people can't tell if they're getting a wisdom tooth or if they've got an absessed tooth or other problem. FWIW, you don't have to listen to your dentist's advice...but you should be evaluated to at least know what the problem is.

Not all dentists are that gung ho - the one I go to recommends not doing anything unless it is causing problems. He doesn't automatically recommend fillings etc. For the first time in my life I am not terrified about going to the dentist! I would recommend getting a second opinion if the first dentist automatically says "pull it". In the meantime, sucking on a whole clove can ease mouth pain. Good luck! |

ouch sorry to hear that megs, i havehad issues this past yr also and i can say with certainty that the brauers teething relief (for kids) works so well on aem swell... it is really fast acting and so explains how i can give it to maddox and hell drop of to sleep pain free 10 minutes later...
