Blood type diet revisited
« on: September 19, 2006, 01:04:58 PM »

About a hundred years ago I stumbled onto the blood type diet and found that according to it, I (an O type) should eat lots of meat for optimal health.

Recently I discovered that there's another set of body-specific diets, this one based (more credibly, imho) on characteristics of the individual.  In my case, naturally thick musculature, slow, deliberate movements and thoughts, afternoon sugar cravings, post-meal sleepiness, and very strong appetite all point toward an extreme protien diet.  According to this, I should be getting 70% of my calories from protien and fat.  Sounds crazy to me, but I'll try anything once (well, almost anything!) so I'm giving it a go.

So far, I feel like I"m starving all the time.  I guess it's because I'm used to getting so much water, fiber and starch, my stomach needs to shrink down.  if I eat until my tummy feels full, it's WAY past when my body feels satisfied.  there's also a lot of gas involved, it takes a lot of beans to get even half the protien this diet recommends.

to clarify, I"m shifting the balance of my calories, not the amount.  I think I'm actually eating more than I should because I'm in the habit of eating so often.

Just FYI, I'll keep you posted on my little experiment, I don't plan on going over a week if I don't get used to it.  no sense in feeling worse when I'm trying to feel better!

ive heard frequently that if you feel hungry (and it isnt a reg eating time) then you may be thirsty not hungy, they say have a drink of water and wait ten miniutes if you still feel hunger then eat.

i think this fits for me well and i always try to do this... i sack to much for snacking sake and alot of the time mistake thirst for hunger...

good luck and im really interested in how you go / went

I got a fever and binged on rice cakes, and now I am having a hard time starting up again because I know how difficult it is.  I can tell you in the few days before I got sick, I had more energy, gained a couple of pounds, got constipated, was more likely to yell at Kody, rather than get quietly exasperated, and spent a butt ton of money on nuts.  I will try it again, like, right after this bowl of popcorn, lol.  No, maybe next week, this weekend is my birthday and I have a veggie potluck to go to, so...
