For your whole grain baby!  Cheesy

I've been looking for something that ds can eat with only two teeth that'll get some good calories in him and not turn to mush in his hand and get all over the floor.  I made this up and he seems to like it.  I think you could substitute anykind of babyfood or fruit or veggie puree for the applesauce.

makes a dozen little nuggets

2/3 c. whole wheat flour
1/3 c. 'quick' oats (or lightly blenderize rolled oats)
pinch salt
1 tsp Egg Replacer (dry)
=======
1 Tbs. veg oil
2 Tbs. molasses
1 Tbs. real maple syrup
1 Tbs. applesauce

Preheat oven to 325 degrees Farenheit.
Combine dry ingredients.  Combine wet ingredients.  Unify the two.
Make smooth little balls (superball size) and arrange on your oiled or nonstick baking sheet.
Use the back of a largish, greased spoon to make a nice cookie shape out of the balls.
Cook them until they're done.   Wink  A little tan on the underside, but not dark.

Don't forget to save some for your kid.  I gobbled up about half a batch while I tidied the kitchen.  Oops.

that sounds really good.  i'll have to try that when we actually get an oven in our new place.  we are only using a convection oven/microwave, and it is really pathetic.  i used to be a big scone maker.  I'm sad to say that c on the odd occassion gets a store bought cracker, not kids ones either and sometimes sweet.  they're full of a lot of crap and all those nasty numbers.  we've also got into the habit of giving her our pizza crusts(thin base but still not good) must change this soon.

OK, I just got back from the doc and she said k's a little anemic.  She wants to get him on suppliments and I'm thinking, "hey, let's work on getting some iron in his diet first, yeah?"

So I modified the recipe:

1/4 salted but not sweetened PB
2 Tbs
Black Strap
 molasses
1 Tbs real maple syrup
2 (or 3) Tbs apple sauce

1 c. whole wheat pastry flour (a really fine grind of wheat, I think oat flour would be OK, but I don't have any in the hiz-ouse)
1/2 Tbs Egg Replacer

Combine.  Unify. Bake.
