Very glad to see your voice of reason suggesting a sling there. What horrific reading though :-( Regards Marnie PS Congrats on the birth of your baby!

Uggh!!!! I hate it when people start w/ this crap. Hopefully, she'll get a sling or Bjorn. Something for that poor baby.

its amazing isnt it, the baby has just spent 9 or so mths in its mother womb...curled up and warm and feeling comfort. Then its born and expected to lay and do nothing and NOt cry,and get used to not being held close whenever it wants.
well i let maddox cry once after some bad advice and i tried it when he was maybe 4 weeks old even though i knew it wouldnt work (i plead insanity) after two minutes of him crying i went in picked him up he settle immediatelky and we fell asleep on my bed with him on my chest.
maddox had colic so his need to be held partially stemmed from him wanting to be in an upright position. i had a sling which was fantastic but i do merit a lot of peace of mind to the baby bjorn it just seemed to put pressure where he needed it and really helped us both to get on with life.
i dont think you can ever spoil your children by giving them to much love. if they are happy to be on their own and quiet then great but if there isnt mothers should feel daunted about possible making rods for their backs if they come to the baby's aide..

I know, isn't it sad?
I was actually encouraged that most of the posters didn't advocate doing CIO. But I suppose that's because of the age. When our babies are 3-4 months, watch out! Everyone will be talking about Babywise and Ferber and Weisbluth. Ugh.

Yeah somebody was talking about baby wise the other day. But most of the people seem to be against CIO(so far).

That's my birth board, too....though the thread must've died because the link isn't working. Anyway, Renee was right and it has only gotten worse. I suspect it will continue to get worse (and I saw he other thread here that lends to that suspicion). It just amazes me...
