Anyone giving their kids any? The ped recommended vitamins, again, because Del doesn't drink milk, and I tried, again, but it just isn't happening. I would like to get some flax oil into her bacause she has such dry skin, but I haven't figured that one out yet Undecided

I think most people know where i stand on the milk issue.  I think there is no need to use supplements unless they've actually found that she is lacking via a blood test.  otherwise it could be a waste of money for one.  What do they want to supplement her with?

i have an iron suppliment for kody because he tested as slightly deficient at 12 and again at 15 months.  I still haven't given it to him.  i just keep forgetting.  i think i may not give him the full dose at first because he really wasn't far from normal levels and ped said it might make his poo tough.  you said on another thread that Delaney is still nursing alot, so i don't think cow's milk would give her anything she's not already getting.

I agree w/ Adrienne, that since you bf, she is probably fine. Emily is bf still and eats very well (lots of variety, lots of fruits & veggies). She also doesn't drink cow's milk but just a few sips every day. We don't give her a vitamin, though she does like to stand in line for one (we all take vitamins/meds at the same time everyday). We give her a half of one to chew on. She usually spits it back out, lol! We definitely don't think it's a requirement for her since she gets bm and eats well.

OTOH, we do give Jessie a daily vitamin b/c she eats so little and refuses to eat all veggies & most fruits and is not bf anymore; she does drink a lot of cow's milk, so she's not deficient in iron...just in all the things that fruits & veggies give you. They have some flavored gummy vitamins that honestly taste just like gummy bears to me (yes, I taste everything I give my kids). Vitamins are good for kids like Jessie who eat so poorly.  (I know there's some holier-than-thou folks...not anyone here, but on some other boards...who think that you just have to introduce kids early to fruits & veggies and then no one would ever need vitamins...however, that's not reality. Jessie was given lots of variety for baby food, but when she started table food, she started refusing foods. Her collection of food she eats gets smaller, rather than larger, as she gets older.  Jessie would truly rather go hungry than eat certain foods. She is the reason why things like daily multivitamins are important. If she was living 100years ago, she would have had some malnutrition issues, I'm sure). My point, unless Delaney is that bad, you're probably ok w/ not giving her any vitamins.
