They're originally from australia. I love them so far. They have a flushable/compostable insert that biodegrades in less tyhan 2 months, or you can use prefolds in them. They're pretty cute too. They're a cotton knit, that uses a hook and loop closure in the back

I can't believe I haven't posted on this thread!
We started out with FuzziBunz, Kushies, and Bumkins. As well as infant PFs and covers or wool.
By now FB don't fit well, I never got bigger Kushies, and can't deal with caring for Bumkins. We still use covers and wool over CPFs or fitteds I like Cuddlebuns and old style Tykie fitteds For pockets we use bumGenius, AngelLuvz, and sometimes Swaddlebees or HuggaBuns. I'm also into Pocket Change these days. We prefer hemp stuffins For AIOs we use Little Bottoms and Jolies (both ebay WAHMs) or Swaddlebees. I also have one "eyelash minkee" WAHM AIO that is so fuzzy it's absurd! I do miss the Kushies, though.
And slowly, I'm trying to write a get started "manual" for cloth- up to 7 pages now, LOL (hey that's 2 more than yesterday!)

I'm considering trying a pack of the Kushies Ultra w/ this one. What's everyone's opinion? On diaper pin and the cloth diaper board on bbc, they seem to have "mixed" reviews. But, they seem the most economical AIO.

They have a snap in nylon liner that holds the flushable/prefold in place. I'll have to snap a picture of Aidric with one on next time I have the camera handy when I'm changing him.

I loved our Kushies, too. Even though they were all cotton inside (no fleece liner) they seemed to dry fairly soft i=on the line or they fluffed up pretty well if I took them down and tossed them on low heat with a damp prefold for a few minutes. My Bumkins are "crunchy" and they don't get soft until they're wet again! Also Kushies do tolerate machine drying well, not all diapers do. I think the reason you don't hear more good stuff about them is that a lot of moms really like having fleece or suedecloth next to the butt and that a lot of moms on those sites get "snobby/botiquey" about diapers (OK, I admit it, I do, too sometimes ) Kushies just don't have that "one-of-a-kind" custom, embroidered, minkee, Preston Pants appeal. Oh, they do get stains, too- inside and out if in contact with poop, but they sun out really well. Even the one I bought second hand with a poop stain outside (I didn't recognize it because poo stains pink on a green Kushie) After months in storage and one use, it came out with 2 hrs on the line.

Thanks for the info on the Kushies everyone.
Sukey, I think you're right that some people get snobby about the diapers, which I don't really understand considering for ME the biggest point to using them is the money savings. Unfortunately, I can't convince DH to use the most economical of CD, which is prefolds...so I have to buy the most economical pocket or AIO. Since I only spend about $50 a mos on disposables, it's hard to find AIOs or pockets that will last long enough to cost less than that once you factor in the initial cost (DH doesn't want me to buy used), the cost of electricty & water utilities to wash/dry, and the amt of mos the baby can wear the diapers. Honestly, it seems like economically, newborn CD is a waste. My last baby weighed 8lbs at birth. I may have to wait and buy just the infant Kushies, which start at 10lbs. So, I may have 1 or 2 mos w/ CD, since I think it would cost more to CD a newborn since the diapers wouldn't last more than a month or two (spend $100 on disposables for 2mos vs. spend $150 + utilities on newborn CD). uggh...I think my head is spinning!

if you decide to go disposable for a few months with the newborn target brand diapers are really really great for the price. they are like $5/100 diapers for newborn size. i used them before we switched to cloth and i absolutely loved them. they saved me so much money.

i personally never bothered with tiny newborn nappies, they'll only last a few weeks, though remember there is a resale value on them. oh and even if you're only interested in the first instance in saving money, those cute nappies can suck you in.

So true, So true! Hope, I have gotten almost all of my diapers used or on seconds or clearance sales. I just watch diaperswappers.com and diaperpin.com forums for the sales. I also bought the Verybaby pattern and the are suprisingly easy to make, if you have the time (you are probably laughing at that). I have a few newborn fitteds, but we are mostly going to use prefolds and flats at first.

Yea, I'm thinking it's just a waste, especially if Zach is as big as Emily was at birth (8lbs 3oz). Also, my mom just brought me a thing of 8-15lbs disposables that my sister wasn't able to use and I know the hospital will give me some (included in the bill) and I know I'll get another thing or two of diapers from various people for the first few weeks. So, I know I'll have at least the 2 first 2 or so week's worth of diapers for free. So, then, it's just how quickly he could fit into the cloth diapers that start at 10lbs after I run out of free disposables, lol. Also, I'm really such a practical person that I doubt I'll get into the whole cute diaper thing. It's just not my personality. I mean, to me a diaper is a diaper, especially since my babies usually wear sleepers 90% of the time as newborns, so the diaper will be covered up. I don't care if it's all white or has crazy colors or has a puppy sewn on the bum. I guess I just don't get it, lol!
