I think with a brief bit of research i just figured out the difference. and based on the info dh and i are and will be doing what is known as unschooling. At first i was a bit unsure of the method as i was public school taught and so i had a strict curriculum. but i can now see how it works.
Well, unschooling is really just like what many people already know and what I would expect out of anyone who said they were TRULY homeschooling nowadays. Just plopping your kid down in a chair w/ a workbook at 9am everyday is probably LESS helpful than going to an organized school and I think most unschoolers realized this and wanted to do it differently. I think unschooling is just a label for people to identify that they are interacting w/ their child in learning and taking the child's lead on what to learn when. The idea behind it is that to truly embrace the idea of life-long learning, a cjhild has to "buy into" what he is learning. Of course, unschooling didn't invent this concept...this is already in use in montessori and other similar types of schools.
