The conference was actually great, well at least the food was great and that is the most important part of any conference.
I was able to focus on my work for this one without getting distracted by the presentations. Far to complex and no interest. Overall an interesting group of people. Hard to believe they could find anything to talk about, but they did.

get enough red wine into any physicist and they will find something to talk about actually they arent that bad im with you thought the work is of no interest to me but i guess you have to be able to understand it well to find an interest.

I was going to mention that very thing a while back when Jess (I think) mentioned she wanted to be an astronomer. It's easy to be interested in a subject on a broad level like, "I find Quantum Physics faschinating and stimulating," but when it comes to the stuff Quantum Physicists actually work on it's a different story. Same goes for Astronomy. It's cool to look at stars and know what they're made of, how big they are, how far away and all that, but spend two years in a cold dark room taking pictures of something that looks like a blurry dot during the night and looking for patterns in the teeny tiny changes of brightness it goes through during the day is pretty boring. Then, of course, you get to travel to a conference where you'll tell people about the big breakthrough that took you all that time, work and tedium and chances are their eyes will glaze over and they won't even hear you. Then again, Jess, I miss it sometimes, too.

Love this thread! Let's see... I have a Master of Science in Social Work, but in an alternate life, I'd be a professional singer and songwriter. I always said I'd never live with someone before marriage or get divorced, and I've done both - twice! LOL I am a chronic nail biter, as are both of my brothers, but my mom has the most beautiful nails I've seen. I have 14 years of sobriety, and was hospitalized as a teenager for depression. I am entirely too addicted to TV and the Internet. Kerry
