Hi all, My name is Megs. Well really its Megan, but anyway. I am your friendly Administrator. I would just like to Welcome everyone to the Attachment Parenting Board. Feel free to discuss all things AP here and post OT stuff on the general board.
For the moment this board is a public space and i hope you all enjoy it. I'd like to start by offering a description of what i think Attachment parenting is.
Attachment Parenting is a parenting philosophy practised by many people in many generations. It is also known as instinctive parenting and focuses on enabling our childs independence through a strong foundation of attachment, respect and trust. Attachment parenting usually includes cosleeping, baby wearing, positive parenting, and breastfeeding. This is not a list however. Do not feel that if you are unable to baby wear or breastfeed that you aren't AP. I had great difficulty breastfeeding and my dd was not keen on the sling so basically you do what works for your family. Generally, those who do Attachment Parenting do not do sleep training in the typical sense (Cry it out) as this goes against what we are trying to achieve. We want our kids to trust us and through this trust become well adjusted individuals.
So feel free to post questions or information here about this topic.
If you would like to know more about myself, I am intending to write a blurb in the ABOUT US section of this site.
