How refreshing!

I don't know if anyone else has had the experience of near or perfect strangers giving you advice on weaning when they find out you're nursing an "older" kid, but I sure have and boy do I find it exhausting!

Today I went to the dentist, no kids allowed, K went with my grandmom for the day.  On the intake form one of the boxes to check was "Are you lactating?" so I checked yes.  When the x-ray tech or whoever she was read that and was trying to put me at ease she said, "so do we have a little boy or a little girl?" and "How old is he?" I cringed, and told the truth.  braced for a lecture I was surprised that she just said, "awesome."  A couple of minutes later she kind of whispered, "I had twins... and I nursed them until they were five.  I was a closet nurser."  I smiled at that and she warmed up and started talking a little louder and saying how she's a big supporter of child led weaning and all that.  So refreshing and surprising!

That is all.

That is so great!
How is it going by the way? I still miss nursing Delaney. Ther are a lot of times when I know nursing would help her little meltdowns.  Cry

It's going, lol.  K's been on the edge of sick for about a week, so he's nursing more than usual, asking for it during the day even.  I'm kind of a grouch about it sometimes, honestly, though I know I shouldn't be.

Are guys with younger kids planning on CLW or nursing for a while?  Is anyone left still nursing their '04 baby?

That's great, A!  thumbs up

Emily stopped nursing when I was about 3mos pg w/ Zachary.  I think she was around 21mos.

Zachary is 17mos now and hasn't nursed in about 7mos. Unfortunately, I had planned to nurse him as long as Emily but between low supply and low mommy patience, I ended up weaning him. It was a fairly easy process w/ him, though, b/c he wasn't to the point where he was as attached to it as my other two.

While I miss nursing, I also find it very liberating to not have someone on my body at the same time. I'm not sure if that's what you want to hear, but after 3 kids whom I was pg and nursing back-to-back, it is the most honest answer I can give.

I did feel some of this after Del weaned.

A, I don't it is bad to feel that way. As much as I love nursing I feel that way with Fin every once in a while.

I think we will be nursing for a long while here. Finley loves it and I do't have any reason to stop any time soon.

Very cool, A! Ben weaned when I was pg with Lucas - around 22 months. Lucas weaned at 10 months because my supply couldn't keep up with his demand while I was working full-time. He preferred the ease and reliability of the bottle, I guess.

Still going with Asha.  I can't see that we will stop anytime soon but for my sanity i had to put limitations on it.  I don't night feed at all anymore.  I was far too tired.  Asha feeds maybe 5 times a week for her nap.  I still really enjoy that time but i'm guessing if i was demand feeding i would feel a lot different.  I just wanted my own space. So i'm not really doing child led weaning since i have put limitations on it but i would be happy to go on with our one feed a day for a long while yet.

Luckily in Australia you'll pretty much just here positive praise about ELF(except from Grannys).  Thats not to say that many people ELF, quite the opposite but its politically incorrect to question a woman breastfeeding their child.

Just curious.  I would feel the same way as you, do, I'm almost certain.  I get moods where I can't stand to even have my one kid just touching me at all.
