We had a calm xmas really and i'm glad to say that Charlie is getting closer to being back here full time. We couldn't do cold turkey as we just knew it wasn't fair on Charlie especially with all the reading i've been doing about 3 yr olds and the effect of seperation. She has been spending a lot more time at home. slept over with us on xmas eve which was perfect. she was so excited about the whole xmas thing, especially since we had my side of the families xmas day the Sunday before. Charlie got sugar overload that day. Charlie told them it was ok to feed her sweets and apparently you should believe a 3 yr old. We stuck to Santa as pretend but that we could have fun with that. Charlie loves to pretend anyway. We also had carols by candlelight a week before xmas and a week before that we went down to Mooloolaba jetty to see the boat light display. it was really great to see the boats with their xmas decorations and loud xmas music going up and down the river. Now an Asha update: Asha is really becoming a kid. She certainly knows her pronouns. especially me, mine, my. Her latest one is "My toothbrush". She is an amazingly self sufficient kid. We've been very relaxed with our ECing and its really working. Up until a week ago Asha would not poo on the potty but now she has decided she will. She'll trot down to the toilet and pull her pants down and sit on the potty. I'm very impressed. wees are about 1 in 2 in the potty. I think i need to be a bit more active about those. Night feeds are still a bit of a horror. She still feeds 2-3 times through the night. She kicks up a big fuss if i try to refuse her but its the only time she gets grumpy. Through the day she just plays by herself and is generally happy. She loves to copy her big sister. Me, well i got the best xmas present. Finally a new mattress and bed frame. We had been sleeping on a mattress on the floor for about 2 yrs. So how was everyone elses xmas/holidays?

Ours was great. Lots of family stuff, which was one of the reasons we moved back here. I was a bit over whelmed with it since I haven't lived near family in about fifteen years and this is really all Scott's family but I will get used to it. Between the new baby , her birthday and Christmas Delaney has come to think you should get presents all the time and wants us to take her to the store to get more . Here's to getting back to normal!

The really short version is: It was a really nice time for K. K got way to many toys and a bunch of them are crap. Some of the ones I gave him are crap I got from freecycle, I just wanted him to have a bunch of boxes to open and now we're also suffering the "where's my next present" syndrome. I cleared all the fabric out of my old bedroom and put it into storage (whoa expensive, but necessary) and made that room into a play room so now I am happy to have homes for all these toys. at The family gathering we all sang Happy Birthday to little man and he blew out candles which was really great. On the winter solstice I took k out to dinner just the two of us at a vegan restaurant and gave him a colorful wooden top and a dvd of cirque du soleil's alegria (he's an acrobat, you should see him). We had a splendid time, really enjoyed each other's company and the food was such a treat. K still talks about the carob peppermint cake we shared for dessert. I got some really rad presents from my folks and about 5 weeks worth of gift certificates to the natural food store from various family members, which is perfect in my book. We still sleep on the floor. A bed is one of those things "for when we get our house."

AP Mama to 3 Kids

Our holiday time was nice, but really busy and a bit stressful. We celebrated our holiday on the 24th. We started the day w/ sleeping in and then getting up to open presents. It took us several hours to get everything open from us and one set of grandparents; we had to stop to have a bite to eat in the middle of it, lol (it takes a LONG time for 3 kids to open presents). Then, we spent most of the afternoon putting everything together that wasn't already. In the late afternoon, I fixed a traditional ham and the fixings meal. We spent the entire evening and night getting ready for Emily's birthday party, which was on 12/25. I was up until about 4am wrapping presents and putting together the doll house we gave her. On the 25th, we got up to decorate for her party and finish the last few details to get ready for her party. She had a great party, decorated like the 12 Dancing princesses (her pick). Luckily, most of our family and friends we invited were able to come, so that was really nice. She had a great party, which made up for no one coming last year due to us having the what seemed like the plague, lol. Anyway, my mom brought her xmas presents to all of us up on 12/25. We purposely keep Xmas presents and Emily's bday separate; so, we waited until the next day to open those. So, on 12/26, we opened the last of our holiday presents. The kids never ask for more presents...I think b/c they are saturated w/ so much in such a short time (2 bdays and xmas, w/in a month), they seem glad to be done, lol. Anyway, DH and I are just glad for it to be over. We always feel thankful that we survived it all, lol.
Oh, as for the bed situation...we're still wall-to-wall bed in our room. Our king size bed is against the wall, then Emily's twin bed, and then Jessie's twin bed. Emily now sleeps in her own bed "most" of the night, but usually sometime in the early morning, will roll into my bed. Jessie stays in her own bed all night. Zachary sleeps between DH and I. Over the next few months, we'll be fixing up the girls bedroom in hopes to move at least Jessie, and hopefully Emily too, to their own room. Jessie has actually been asking for her own room, but we're a little skeptical about her actually sleeping in there. But, she seems to know that "big girls" sleep in their own room, so we'll see. We might also see if we can get Zachary to sleep in a pack n' play in our room, at least part of the night so that I don't have to be stuck in bed w/ him (he starts to roll as soon as he's half awake...and night I was up until 4am wrapping Emily's bday presents, he rolled out of bed b/c I wasn't in there). He's the most independent of my kids, so it *might* work...we'll see.

Everything was nice but a bit of a blur! It is just such a crazy time of year. On top of Jocelyn's b-day and Christmas we've had 3 other birthday parties to go to since the beginning of December. Our desktop died right before Christmas and we haven't gotten it back yet so I don't have any pictures from Christmas Day but here are a couple of Jocelyn in her dress: Megs - I'm glad to hear that things are working out with Charlie. That must have been wonderful to have her home on Christmas morning. Hope - It sounds like Jessie is doing really well, too! I think I'm going to start a general update thread - I've been missing everyone!
