no shampoo
« on: May 13, 2007, 08:40:27 PM »

this may sound bizarre but i'm doing the no shampoo challenge. i've used bicarb  a couple of times when i caved but i'm going to give it a real shot.  heres the article:

http://www.smh.com.au/news/richard-glover/the-no-shampoo-challenge/2007/03/22/1174153246888.html

Anyone want to do it with me?

I tried it awhile ago and my unruly hair did not like it. I need conditioner and a lot of it!
Good luck!

My hair did get oily one day after washing but now, 2 weeks in and only 2 bicarb washes its nowhere near as oily.

Sars, your blonde hair would make it look even more oily though.  I'd wait til you go to Canada.  Hey come visit me.

I'm not.  haha, I only wash my hair about every ten days, but I do love it.  Kody on the other hand has never had his hair washed... well, since he was about a week old.

and his hair is so nice and shiny.

it does feel so nice to massage and wash your hair with shampoo, but i'm much more enjoying having cleaner hair without it.  I've gone from greasy hair at day 2 with shampoo to oily hair at day 5 with bi carb.

do it Liz, its an eye opening experience into habits.  I've had to stop myself a few times from grabbing the shampoo just out of habit.  I've hit a greasy point again but i'm really trying not to reach for the bicarb.  good news is my hat should be here soon to cover it up.

how are you avoiding tangles?  If I don't shampoo & condition my hair everyday, I get terrible tangles. Yesterday, I ran out of conditioner before I could get to the store and just one day of not using conditioner had my hair in tangles and looking bad.

my hair is really oily right now and i've had one knot but i'm making sure i brush my hair a few times a day.  I don't use conditioner anymore unless i was going out somewhere nice where my tresses needed training.  I discovered i don't really need it although i was shampooing my hair atleast once every 2 days.  Your hair is a lot longer than mine too Hope.

so todays is 2 weeks for me... i cant belive how healthy my hair looks. my hair always has NO body, straight as a pin but it has a lot more bounce now and i just pretend washed it and combed it through after the shower and it combed through sooo easily! i would have never imagined my hair to be so easy to comb without conditioner.... it feels like i used conditioner when in fact i havent done ANYTHING! it feels good to pretend wash it though, i just need to do taht in order to feel clean ya know? how is your hair?

Well its doing ok, I guess i'm probably on week 2 of absolutely nothing.  i really should have taken note of when i started.  Its been 4 weeks probably all up but i cheated a little.  i'm finding my wool hat is helping a lot as it probably removed a bit of the oil that would migrate to my forehead.    sorry for the grossness, its actually quite alright and Charlie is fascinated with my hair too.
