Anyone read Ishmael?
« on: January 08, 2006, 11:22:06 AM »

I read this book a couple of months ago and it is truly an eye opener.  I reccommend it to everyone.  If i were to tell you the plot you'd think i was nuts, but basically its about how the planet got to be in the state that its in and how to go about saving it.  It was written in the 70's but is very relevant to today, in fact i thought it was written recently until i checked.  I am not usually a book reader(i think i read a book once maybe twice a year)but this is a good one.

OMG, is this the one about the gorilla?!  I'm sure it is.  I read it in college.  I agree that it's worth a read, but have to admit that I remember very little consciously.  Maybe I'll have to pick it up again.  the same author has another book, "The Story of B" that I never read, but got great reviews.  Boy, thanks for reminding me I've been meaning to check that out!

yep its the one with the gorilla.  It really got me thinking and i started thinking that my whole family should go live in a tribe which scared me and then got to the end and was relieved.  now that i'm writing this i think i need to think about it some more.

I read it a long time ago but as I recall it didn't have a great impact on me. It was a book that makes you think and helps to gain a greater perspective on our place within nature, the environment and the world. Both of which I like from books and movies.

What are media (books, movies, songs, etc) that have changed you?
